SOLZAF is a Social enterprise based in the northeast of England.
SOLZAF was born from a very simple idea. The idea that there are exciting and creative ways of developing the personal skills that people need to increase their employability and life oppurtunities, regardless of the type of work they are interested in.
SOLZAF was set up by Dominic Nelson-Ashley (a Careers Guidance Counsellor with over 15years experience) and a team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals in 2004 to provide a platform for this unique and innovative work as well as providing a springboard and voice for under-represented creative talent at local, regional, national and international levels.
SOLZAF became a community Interest Company (CIC) in 2006 and works predominantly with disadvantaged groups delivering workshops and projects that use music and creative arts to help people develop their personal skills (such as self-esteem, self-confidence, group development, working in partnership and developing community cohesion as well as creativity) as well as other key skills needed for increasing employability. Built into every project is a guidance element to help participants focus on the skills they are developing and potential career paths that the skills can be utilised in and how these skills can be transferred to other disciplines.
