Cyberia Youth Event 2010: coming soon

To celebrate all the great music and creative work that young people have done in the Middlesbrough area , SOLZAF in collaboration with Middlesbrough Youthworks are holding an event called Cyberia where young people who SOLZAF have worked with will be organising, stage managing, performing, DJ-ing and MC-ing. The provisional date is friday 26th March 2010 so put it in your diaries and check back regularly for more details. It is a ticket only event and they will be available only from Middlesbrough Youth centres.

SOLZAF has been recording the latest work of Ek Zuban.

Ek Zuban is a performance collective, independent press and literature development organisation run by Teesside based poets. Bob Beagrie and Andy Willoughby. They often collaborate with other poets and musicians, whose work is nationally and internationally reknowned.

WORDS AND MUSIC PROJECT - A HUGE SUCCESS!

The Words and Music project, devised and delivered by Solzaf and Megablock records and poet Dave Young helped young people develop their songwriting abilities and musicianship by enabling them to explore different musical genresThe results were amazing.Both lyrically and musically.For some of the participants it was the first time they had been involved in songwriting or singing with other people.

Competition winner comes to SOLZAF Studios

Sarah Robinson won the Xfactor style competition to produce a song about the negative aspects of criminal damage.Boro footballer Stewart Downing and local rapper MC Banksy were the judges.The competition was run by Safer Middlesbrough Partnership.

Artsweek dvd: SOLZAF organised and ran the Artswek at Hallgarth Secondary school( and their feeder primary schools ) featuring 7 outstanding artists delivering workshops in physical theatre, drama, contemporary dance, mural making, dj skills and rapping.The theme of the week was:Conflict. Solzaf students achievements recognised

Year 10 and 11 Pupils from Hallgarth school recieved Certificates of Outstanding Artistic achievement from Creative Partnerships and Middlesbrough council.The pupils  created work which was showcased at the Young AV festival 06.
